Zendough Review

Zendough is a product offered by TransUnion, one of the big three credit reporting agencies along with Experian and Equifax. The site offers not only money management tools and credit monitoring services—it has an actual ideology: “the philosophy of helping you find enlightenment through a better understanding of your overall financial standing.” Unlike TransUnion’s credit monitoring service TrueCredit, Zendough is a complete financial management suite, of which credit protection and monitoring are only constituent parts.

Zendough plays on the idea that your financial life—and more specifically, money itself—require a clearness of understanding akin to the spiritual. It purports to be a calm, orderly place where customer s can manage their finances and eventually “attain mastery” over them.

Zendough’s slate of services comes in just one $14.95 per month package. Services include:

• My Zendough, a snapshot of your credit as well as an analysis of debt to income, credit alerts, ID theft risk, and other metrics meant to give you a complete picture of your financial life.

• My Credit, a suite of credit management and planning tools including VantageScore, a credit health score developed by all three major credit bureaus that analyzes a wide array of factors (e.g., payment history, recent credit applications, outstanding balances) to construct a gauge of how much you rely on credit.

• My Accounts analyzes customer debt, starting with the debt-to-income ratio and moving beyond to how your financial allocations impact your overall financial health and how you can better manage those allocations.

• My Path provides financial planning and savings strategies for a host of life events, including marriage, starting a family, moving out of debt, and buying a home.

• My Identity covers identity protection services, from an ID Risk Score built by analyzing online records to ID recovery assistance complete with case managers who assist customers in regaining a handle on their lost information. Zendough also offers up to $25,000 in expense reimbursement for identity theft victims—less than many other identity protection services, who often extend reimbursement of up to $1 million (though the amount you collect in case of ID theft is often nowhere near this high guarantee). However, Zendough does not offer some of the basic identity protection measures that many other services do (e.g., credit freezes, sex offender monitoring, etc.)

More than just an identity protection service, Zendough puts many different financial tools under the same roof, marrying financial management with identity protection in a way no other service does. It also offers these services at a rate comparable to what many ID protection companies charge simply for their credit protection services, sans additional financial advisement. When it comes to “bang for the buck,” few online financial service companies offer as much for the small monthly cost Zendough charges.
